The Caste System of the Horde - The Caste System of the Horde is very rigid. Members of the Horde are born into the caste in which they live learn and serve. The lowest stable hand has as much pride and duty as a Crimson Knight (Horde Chieftain Personal Order of Knights), for if they do not do their job (what they are born into) then they dishonor the god that made them. The Horde does not show fear of anything except their god. As an example, the Horde had failed for many centuries to take the lands back from the other races. Their god punished them for 120 years. Then their god sent down a prophet. The prophet Panton taught them how to organize, and taught them many battle tactics. No matter what caste the Horde member is from, their first duty is to the Horde Chieftain for the chieftain is picked by their god to rule. All members of the Horde are taught to fight. A clan might have one or many different castes that comprise the clan.

The Castes of the Horde are:

The Caste of Rule - The chiefs and ruling bodies

The Caste of Glory - Warriors and battle magick users

The Caste of the Religious - Shaman, Priests, and Magick users

The Caste of Healers – Healers

The Caste of War Makers - Weapons Smith, Armorers, and engineers

The Caste of Tamers - Warg handlers, Serpent handlers, spider handlers, horse handlers

The Caste of Providers - smiths, artisans, carpenters, masons, farmers, cattle handlers, etc.

It is very rare that any member of the Horde will change their caste. There are a few exceptions.

One exception is that a member of the Glory caste may rise to the Rule caste after he has proved himself in battle. Most of the members of the Rule caste are born into it. However, even those born to the Rule caste must prove their fitness to stay a member. They must face a challenge from one of the Glory caste or from a higher rank member of the Rule caste.

Another exception that allows a change of caste is permitted if a young member of a caste challenges one of another caste on the day of remembrance. If the challenge is successful, then the young member of the Horde may choose to enter a new caste.

The last of the common exceptions is if a Horde member of one caste shows great promise and prowess in a craft (including battle) a Clan leader may assign that Horde member to another caste.

The City Of Two Worlds - The Capital City of the Horde - The Capital of the Horde is known as the Capital of the Two Worlds, the world above the ground and the world below the ground. The Capital City name means two worlds. There are two throne rooms in the Palace. One throne room is above ground and the other is below ground. Some of the Races the Orcs deal with prefer to meet below ground.

Above Ground
The Above Ground Throne room is called God's chamber of illumination. An 18-foot diameter silvered light tube illuminated the entire room with natural light during the day. A dazzle spell cast just above the light tube illuminates the room during night only during special functions. The light tube allows the Horde leader to communicate with their god. The Throne itself is encrusted with Amber. The Horde lord wears a crown of gold with 18 Red Amber jewels upon it. The floor is tiled by 36" by 36" Obsidian and Flint Tiles that shimmer in the light. The pattern is that of the (give name), diamond formation that Horde Thunder Troops use. On the walls, the same obsidian and flint tile work at 12" by 12" depict Horde formations and the symbols of the 18 clans. The depiction of the first breath encircles the light tube. All in Obsidian and Flint. The archways are adorned with heroic scenes from Orcish history. Among the scenes depicted is the first victory of the Horde against the sickness known as the Dwarves.

Below Ground
The Below Ground Throne room is called the Dwelling of the chosen. Magical glow spheres illuminate it. The floor, walls and archways are adorned exactly like those in the above ground throne room. In the center of the ceiling again in Obsidian and Flint tile is a depiction of the first breath surrounding an 8' circle of amber and ivory.

The capital city is comprised of four cities that over time have been assimilated in what is known as the capital of two worlds. A vast network of Tunnels (Kobolds completed in the year) connects the four cities to each other. It was not until that construction began on the above ground road system. The government believed that the dirt roads and trails were enough to supplement the tunnel system. With more traffic going above ground due to the size of the cargo, the horde minister of roads convinced the council of leaders to create a road system between the four cities. Overtime the four cities merged into the city of two worlds. The current population of the city of two worlds is 850,000 Horde and 5000 humans.

The Horde Chief Drang came across a human city to the east of his domain called Ki-ri. This was the western most enclave of the Chindarn. The unusual customs and ways of these humans intrigued Drang. Within five years, the horde controlled all of the northern and most of the southwestern lands once controlled by the humans that called themselves Chindarian. The horde was unable to conquer the rest of the Chindarn by the magic society of Chan Lu after an additional two years a truce was made between the horde and the province of Chindarn. The horde allowed the humans to live as workers and servants to the great horde. Over time, the humans became the serfs of the horde. The humans or Calton as the horde calls them are allowed to perform certain

Crossroads of Alquennas - The Crossroads of Alquennas are comprised of part legend, part myth, and part truth. It is written in stone and on parchment that the Dwarves of Alquennas came from another realm by way of the Crossroads. This was at the Gods' request to help heal the world.

The Crossroads are powered by magick, spirit, and will, all at the same time. The Crossroads lead to many places. Some say that they are another way to get to Underhill and that they lead to the lands of the Djinn and the Efreets. That anyone that walks them can travel to the lands of power and soul of the elementals and many other mystical realms. It is also said that the Crossroads allow one to travel from one mortal realm to another just as the early Dwarves who came to Alquennas did.

It is unclear how one enters the Crossroads from any realm on Alquennas. There are said to be 14 entrances called Crossroad Doorways. These allow one to access the Crossroads from Alquennas; however, their locations and the keys needed to open those Doorways are still a mystery. One of the entrances is said to be near the shrine of Saint Alyssa near the city of Lords in the country of Valinnia on the continent of Mednadda.

Several conflicting myths and legends exist concerning the Crossroads and in TK 1043, the crown of Azin established an investigative group to discover the truth about the Crossroads. This action seemed prudent, as the Horde had also spent a great deal of resources to discover how to use the Crossroads for their own purposes.

Only one being currently alive has been known to travel the Crossroads. New Edo No Gonji Akira, also known as Lord Gonji ath New Edo, serves the Duchess Ellime' loyally. She took him in as she has so many. He freely admits that he was not born on Alquennas. However, when asked about the Crossroads and his journey to Alquennas, Lord Gonji only replied, "I was lost and the Traveler guided me. I came to this world. I found the Duchess and found once again a Daimyo whom I could serve. Now this world is my home. I have no other and I serve no other. What care I for how I got here? Here I am and here I stay." He will not speak further on the subject.

Crossroads Gate Portal - Crossroads Gate Portals are physically different looking than Gate Portals. Crossroad Gate Portals are 25 feet in diameter and not 15 feet in diameter as the standard Gate Portals are. Additionally, Crossroad Gate Portals are said to have the power to allow travelers to walk into the Cross Roads of the universe, thus allowing travel to anywhere within time and space where a Gate portal can provide entry. The accuracy of this report is unclear, as no one has reported either doing so or the results from anyone doing so. In the beginning of TK 1055, two Gate Portals were altered in size to the dimensions of a Crossroad Gate Portals. These are the public gates at Sterling City in the Province of Kent and in Azin City in the capital province of Azin. There are four additional gate portals in Azin scheduled to be altered in this method during TK 1055.
