The Storm Island Chain

Overview

Storm Island Chain with compass rose   - Storm Island Chain

The Storm Island Chain is comprised of over 47 islands and atolls. Several naturalists believe that all of the islands and atolls were once a single land mass that experienced a severe catastrophe that altered the landscape to what is now known as the Storm Island chain.

The central island of this chain is the main Island of Storms. As the name suggests, the weather on this island is not hospitable towards most creatures. The waters in and between the land masses of the Storm Island Chain are dangerous and there is only one safe passage to the inner islands. The path between the islands of Charybdis and Scylla forms the eastern edge of the chain.

A chain of primary and secondary islands surrounds the main Island of Storms. The primary links of the Chain consist of 10 islands. These islands are called:

Primary Islands of the Storm Island Chain
Charybdis Scylla Circe Kobaloi
Mormo Orthrus wtheno Bashe
Bardi Cacus

The chain is also comprised of 36 secondary islands. These islands are called:

Secondary Islands of the Storm Island Chain
Ceffyi Karkinos Cerastes Taraxippi
Daitya Telekhines Dipsa Alops
Fext Anax Havsra Geryon
Indus Cetea Jenu Khalkotauroi
Labbu Kinda Malice Randan
Nakki Nrta Odei Revden
Deino West Fire Island Enyo East Fire Island
Pemphredo Fire Island Balius Ceryneian
Xanthus Calydonian

There are two additional outrigger islands in the chain and they are known as:

Baobhan Sith Crabra

These two islands are south of the main, primary, and secondary islands.

There are two main reasons why someone would travel to and through the Storm Island Chain. These reasons are:

Royal Saffan Flower Resin Resin of Drakon

The Storm Island Chain is the only known source for these two resins on Alquennas. They can be found on four of the inner islands of the chain.

The governments of Azin, Trista, Moshven, The Horde Union, and the Haeflin Third Sphere of Influence all maintain settlements on the outer islands of the chain and these settlements act as trading posts. There are no known organized governments in the inner islands of the chain.

There are reports of strange and unusual creatures that dwell on the lands, in the waters surrounding, and in the air over the Storm Island Chain. These reports have not been confirmed. Several naturalists have petitioned their governments to fund an expedition to explore the islands and to catalogue these creatures in these unusual lands.

There have been two creatures identified that live within the confines of the Storm Island Chain. These two creatures are:

Pterodactylus (Winged Finger)
This ancient bird has both feathers and scales like a reptile.

Coconut Crab
As the name suggests it hunts coconuts.
